"People do not lack strength - they lack will." - Victor Hugo

It's always nice to know a little trivia.  You never know when they'll want you to appear on the Jeopardy game show.

But there's another good reason to know trivia. It exercises your brain! Yeah, it makes you think about things in a different way. And that's good for the old noodle!

For example, most people know that Neil Armstrong was the first person to step on the moon. But how many people know who the second person was? Do you?

We've collected a few nice little pieces of trivia for you to chew on. Remember, all knowledge has value, so don't ever think that trivia is useless. As you travel this winding road we call life, you will be surprised at how many times you'll need to know some trivia.

So enjoy our choices below. Let us know if you like any of these, and if you have some good trivia you'd like to share, send it to us!

You've got mail!

Ah yes, you've heard that before. Even if you don't use AOL, we're sure you've heard it on TV. Tom Hanks even did a movie with Meg Ryan based on it.

But do you know whose voice it is? It's a real person that recorded it back in 1989. What's his name?

What a neck!

Do you know what vertebrae are? Vertebrae are the bones in your spine that go up your back and through your neck. You have quite a few of them. In your neck, you have seven of them. Yes, no matter how small your neck is, you have seven. Babies have seven and adults have seven.

But what about a giraffe? Do you know how many vertebrae a giraffe has in its neck? Take a guess!

Blue plus Yellow

This is an easy one. What color do you get when you mix blue and yellow?

Be careful. This might not be as easy as you think!

First Base

Not everyone is a baseball fan, but most people know how the game is played. You hit the ball and run to first base. Once on first base, if the pitcher isn't looking, you can run to second base. This is called "stealing second base". And if the pitcher isn't watching you, you can get lucky and run from second base to third base. This is called "stealing third base".

So ... we were wondering ... can you steal first base? What do YOU think?

The Eighth

Who was the eighth President of the United States of America? We'll give you a hint ... his first name begins with a "G".

Tuesday and ?

September 1, 1752 was a Tuesday. We bet you didn't know that. Okay, now that you know it was a Tuesday, here's a very difficult question ... what day of the week was September 30, 1752?

Don't laugh. This one is very difficult! We promise you.

Rotating days

The Earth rotates on its axis as it revolves around the Sun. You know that a day has 24 hours in it.

But do you know how long it takes for the Earth to complete exactly one rotation on its axis? Think carefully!

Weird Words

For this question, we'll combine a few questions together.

What is an aglet? What is a philtrum? What is a tittle? What is an octothorpe? What is a polymath? What is cacography? What is a cosmopolite? What is the lunula? What is a funambulist? What is the tragus? What is a somnambulist?

What is cerumen? Lots of other weird words too!

September and 7

Did you ever wonder how the months September, October, November and December got their names? Well, maybe you know that "Sep", "Oct", "Nov" and "Dec" come from the Latin words "Septem", "Octo", "Novem" and "Decem", which stand for "seven", "eight", "nine" and "ten".

But wait! September isn't the seventh month! It's the ninth! And October isn't the eighth month. It's the tenth. Hmmmm. And November is the eleventh month, not the ninth. And December is the twelfth month, not the tenth?

What's going on here? Do you know?

Teddy and Franklin

Do you remember Teddy Roosevelt? His face is one of the four Presidents carved out of rock in Mount Rushmore. And how about Franklin Roosevelt? He was President during World War II. He served four terms (the longest of any President).

Roosevelt and Roosevelt? A coincidence, or are these guys related? Do you know the trivia about their names?

Which day?

What day of the week will Christmas be on this year? How about October 14th? What day of the week was April 10th on? Come on, can you tell us without looking at a calendar?

There's an easy way to figure this out. Take a look!

Where in the world?

Here's a good quiz. You might have even heard it before. But don't answer it too quickly. It's tricky!

Imagine you are at a camp. It's Christmas Day and it's a nice bright sunny day. You travel directly south for 1000 miles, then turn and travel directly west for 1000 miles, and turn again and travel directly north for 1000 miles.

And then you find yourself right back at the camp! So the question is ... where is this camp?

Enjoy!
